Google....The U.S. National Debt Clock...

Preface...

...............................................................................

Just google...U.S. National Debt Clock...or...American Debt...

And you can get some very interesting numbers, sites, and articles on this most important American subject matter....

Worst of all, the American debt, which now seems to stand, based on the numbers I am seeing, at about 10 and half trillion dollars, is still skyrocketing upwards at a rate of almost 4 billion a day...That is rather scary stuff...and not an issue that either political party seemed to want to squarely address in this past election campaign. Somebody needs to address it, preferrably sooner than later.

This is an issue that past Conservative-Republican Politicians and Parties would not have tolerated for a minute without addressing head on...but noooooooooobody wants to seem to talk about it...Let's run the American economy into the ground on money that does not exist -- or at least does not have any meaning or substance behind it!!!

Wouldn't we all like a credit card with no limit that the bank says we don't ever have to pay back!!!! This is the way the American Government seems to want to run its economy. Deficit financing and deficit spending to the max!!!

Let our kids pay our debts...and their kids....and their kids...

Let's never pay it back...not take responsibility...our inheritance to our kids!!

Sorry son, but I just didn't feel like being accountable for this debt. Too unpleasant. Too much sacrifice involved in turning it around. You're younger than me...You take care of it...You've got your whole life to pay it off...It's something i just don't want to deal with at this point in my life...hope you still love me...Don't do like I did. Do what I say. Pay your debts!

Yes, dad. Sure.

I love you too.

Also, the U.S. Department of the Treasury provides daily, monthly, and yearly figures for the Debt--to the penny! These are the figures I use to calibrate this Debt Clock.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This debt clock is maintained by Ed Hall (edhall@brillig.com). It was last calibrated using information obtained from the U.S. Department of the Treasury dated 13 November 2008. Population figures are derived from the U.S. Bureau of the Census' Population Clock.
